Local area
The Danube festival weeks in Strudengau and the Grein summer festival are part of the comprehensive programme of cultural interest in this historical village. The Stadttheater in Grein is believed to be the oldest secular theatre in Austria to have survived in its original state. A walk around Schloss Greinburg Palace and a visit to the stone theatre should be on every itinerary. The Upper Austrian Shipping Museum presents the history of shipping over the ages. A great and relaxing way to round off the visit is to go to the famous Biedermeier-period café 'Blumensträußl' or the coffee house known as 'Schörgi' just opposite the Danube station.
